Crown Perth: 4.19 MWp over the surface car parks

Crown Perth has several large open car parks ringing the resort, on the highest-yield grid in the country. We drew and priced a canopy across that surface parking. It is the largest single-site canopy we have drawn outside an airport, and it carries a guest amenity story alongside the energy case.

The surface parking is the asset. Crown Perth's open lots are the largest uncovered sealed area on the site, and in Perth they receive more usable sun than anywhere else in the country. Covered parking is also the first thing a guest touches on arrival and the last thing they touch on the way out.

What the canopy does for the site

Scale on a single title

4.19 MWp on one site, generating about 6.5 GWh a year. That is a single approval, a single connection conversation and one construction programme.

Guest amenity, not just plant

A shaded walk to the door in a Perth summer is a visible upgrade to the arrival experience. Most energy investments are invisible to the guest. This one is not.

EV charging where guests dwell

Guests park for hours. The canopy is the structure and cable pathway chargers mount to, so charging can be added across the lot without returning to civil works.

Highest yield of the three properties

Melbourne and Sydney park below ground or in decks. Perth is where Crown's parking is at grade, which makes it the only property in the group where this format applies.

Why Burswood

Crown reports on energy and emissions across its Australian properties and Burswood is the largest single consumer of the three. Generation on the car park sits behind the meter and offsets daytime demand from cooling, kitchens and gaming floors directly.

The canopy drawn below covers the open lots and delivers 4.19 MWp, about 6.50 GWh a year on site, for $7.20M of base scope. Staged construction is available where sections of the lot must stay open through the works, which on a trading resort is the usual requirement.

Drawn and priced

The canopy below was drawn to scale on the actual car park and priced through our engine. Figures are preliminary, ex-GST, subject to site assessment: 4.19 MWp, about 6.49 GWh a year generated on site, for $7.20M of base scope.

Proven on trading sites

Canyon Solar factory-builds solar canopies that turn large car parks into onsite generation and shade. We have delivered them for Woolworths, across six sites, and for IGA, AstraZeneca and CSIRO. At Wests Illawarra Leagues Club we installed 365 kWp over the club's main car park in its busiest season, across two staged installs, with four EV chargers and no parking bays lost.

The Grand Canyon

For a lot this size the standout design is the Grand Canyon: a continuous, full-coverage canopy with no gaps over the driving lanes. It gives the highest solar density in our range and a clean roofline that reads as a designed part of the site. Installs can be staged where sections of the car park must stay open.

Any site, in minutes

This site took minutes to draw. We can do the same for any other asset you hold, live: draw the canopy to scale on the car park, size it, and price it while you watch. We can also run the full economics on your own inputs, whatever tariff, self-consumption, finance structure or target return you want to test.

How to proceed

Own it (CAPEX)

You hold the canopy and all of the generation, on a 30-year design life. Staged if that suits the site.

Hardware as a service (OPEX)

$0 upfront. A service agreement arranged through an independent finance partner; you keep the generation and pay from the savings.

Every canopy is engineered, factory-built and installed by the team that has delivered 16 projects across three states.

A short working session to confirm the staging sequence against event and occupancy patterns, validate the layout on the actual title boundary, and firm the tariff and self-consumption assumptions with Burswood's own load data.
